Waking Nightmare

He was first conscious of the jostling, then the fact the he was sprawled out. Something was digging into his hip. He tried to reach for it but found his hands were tied.

‘Oh my Looord…!’

Larry’s eyes popped open but everything remained dark. That’s when he realized something was over his eyes. His mouth was uncovered thankfully or he’d end up hyperventilating. It already wasn’t a bad idea.

The last thing he remembered was leaving the Chronicle late as usual. It was getting so that he was almost the last one to leave. He had gone into the parking garage then…

Larry couldn’t remember anything from then until waking up now. He tried moving his hands again but they were tied together with something smooth. He frowned; it felt like his tie. His heart was racing. He tried to breathe deeply to calm himself. There were no other sounds beyond road noise and his heart pounding in his ears.

He wondered who he might have pissed off this time. Larry had been working on an expose for the past week but didn’t think he knew enough to make someone go after him.

He felt sweat roll down his temple. Larry knew he was in big trouble.
