Starry Night
As I gaze upon the stars, I hear my husband call me for dinner. “Just a minute!,” I reply. The stars, some ivory blue, others cloud white. The navy blue sky, split in half by the warm colors assaulting the darkness. The blood red in the middle, with the tiger orange and pineapple yellow creating the image of a fire in the sky, lighting the darkness on fire and splitting it in two. The fire slowly fades away, and after a few minutes, I am left in darkness, on the concrete driveway. The dazzling and magnetic starlight kept me there. For a few more moments. And in those moments, I realize just how tired I truly am. My husband has been on his best behavior, but that doesn’t change the fact that he cheated. I got a raise, but that’s because of the overwhelming number of patients. I finally lost that weight I’ve been so insecure about, but that’s because there isn’t enough food. I’m just so tired of this. If only I could stay out here forever….
