Remember there was a time

before the great Awakening

when humans were little more than

Nothing.

Remember the way we fought

out of animal instinct

still bred deep within our DNA

so that we might ascend,

higher powers scoffing

at the world that would give us

Everything.

Remember how we hungered

and in a blink of an eye

fed on all until we were gorged,

destructive path carved by humanity

until all that was left was

nothing.

Remember what has been forgotten

in this terrible awakening

for unearned arrogance and greed

will ready consume

everything.
