POEM STARTER

Using twelve stanzas, write a poem about each month of the year.

Months

January

A new year

Maybe it’ll be better

Or I’ll fall better into fear

February

The month of joy

But what’s the purpose of it

When the love you have is coy

March

Clovers and such

Lucky month, they say

I don’t believe it much

April

The rainy one

Take out your umbrella

The sun gives no fun

May

A blooming flower

I would enjoy it

But I just sit inside and cower

June

The start of summer

I used to love it

Now it’s a bummer

July

Firework light the sky

But why do I both to do so

When I could just cry

August

Near the end

Of the sun’s warmth

But my heart can’t mend

September

Starting to grow cold

The leaves fall

Starting to grow old

October

The month of scares

The cries of kids

Then they laugh like they have no cares

November

Family comes over

Go bond, they say

But you’re gone, my lover

December

The end of the year

I hope you return, I miss you

Before they catch me again, my fears
