Falling

I grab my sisters hand and pull her towards me and the cliff edge. She nods slowly, her nervousness showing through the brave face she’s put on. Then we jump. Falling is an interesting thing. It’s only a few seconds but it can feel like hours. I look down and see the whirlpool spring into action. The sensors around us have picked up our movement and made the whirlpool open. My sister and I discovered this whirlpool when we had gone swimming at the beach with the rest of our family. We slice through the water and gently go in a slow arcing circle. We land on a soft sponge like texture. “Lilly? We’re not wet!” Miralda says in wonderment. I touch my dress and see that she is right. Then I think about the one thing I hadn’t thought about until now. How do we get back home?
