POEM STARTER
Write a villanelle about something that has been abandoned.
The villanelle is a type of poem characterised by its repeating lines and ABA rhyme scheme which create a lyrical effect. There are a number of other rules for a full villanelle if you wish to incorporate them.
Forgotten Fingerprints
Left Behind
Taken away, forced to a new place,
After years of silence, they gave few calls,
I feel unseen, like they forgot my case.
I sent out letters, after finding my face,
But no one cared to break the walls,
I feel unseen, like they forgot my case.
There sits my old name, my forgotten face,
Ignoring my signs, dismissing my falls,
I feel unseen, like they forgot my case.
Trauma blocked my memory, along with all of the mace,
But fear still happens, pain still crawls,
I feel unseen , like they forgot my case.
Why don’t they care, it’s such a disgrace ,
Walking down abandoned halls,
I feel unseen, like they forgot my case.
I hold my truth but hide the case,
I wonder if they still think of me or wait for my calls,
I feel unseen, like they forgot my case,
A ghost hidden in plain sight, without a trace,
DNA protocols, forensic clause,
I feel unseen, like they forgot my case
