Isaiah 43:1

Sometimes I wonder what God saw in the night.

I wonder what it would be like to look up at it with Him,

Right there at my side.

Would He point to a distant star,

And speak its name?

Would He take me to see the life that burns just as bright as that star

In the forests,

The seas,

The air,

And the streets?

No, I do not know what God saw in the Night.

I do not know what it was like for Him to look back at her,

Holding her tight.

I not know what God saw in the Night.

But I know what He did for her,

Holding her tight.

He pointed to the Night, and spoke her name.

He showed her a way that would make her without blame.

He said, “You are Mine, don’t you see that, my child?

“The life that burns just as bright as the stars

“In the forests

“And the seas

“And the air

“And the streets—

“All of it I gave to you, to rule it with Me.”

All the Night knew was darkness—always too dark,

Shame and grief,

But His words gave her a spark.

A spark that grew into burning flames,

Flames that would purify her

And make her without blame.
