POEM STARTER

Using twelve stanzas, write a poem about each month of the year.

Months In Verse

January

The biting wind, a sculptor's hand,

Chisels ice on frozen land.

Snowflakes dance, a swirling grace,

Leaving diamonds on each face.

The fire's warmth, a gentle sway,

Chasing winter's chill away.

Children sled, with joyful cries,

As twilight paints the fading skies.

February

Hearts ignite, with love's warm glow,

Roses bloom, in winter's snow.

Chocolate hearts, and sweet perfume,

Fill the air, dispelling gloom.

Shortened days, and twilight's hold,

Stories whispered, ages old.

A gentle hope, a yearning deep,

For spring's return, while winter's sleep.

March

The wind awakens, with a roar,

Melting snow, on every shore.

Crocuses bloom, a vibrant hue,

Pushing through, the frozen blue.

Birdsong fills, the air anew,

A symphony of life's bright hue.

Hope ascends, on wings so light,

Marching onward, towards the light.

April

Softly falls, the gentle rain,

Washing winter's icy stain.

Trees awaken, with a sigh,

As buds unfold, beneath the sky.

Dandelions, a golden crown,

Paint the meadows, all around.

April showers, bring May flowers,

A promise whispered, through the hours.

May

Emerald green, the fields unfold,

A vibrant tapestry, to behold.

Birdsong fills, the air serene,

A sweet chorus, ever green.

Sunshine warms, each passing day,

Chasing winter's gloom away.

Children play, in fields so bright,

Bathed in May's, golden light.

June

Roses bloom, in fragrant haze,

Sunlight lingers, in a golden maze.

Bees alight, on blossoms sweet,

A symphony of life, complete.

Picnics spread, on blankets green,

Laughter echoes, soft and keen.

Longest days, and balmy nights,

Bathed in June's, ethereal lights.

July

Fireworks burst, a dazzling show,

Celebrating freedom's glow.

Beaches beckon, with waves so grand,

Sand between toes, across the land.

Ice cream melts, a sweet delight,

Underneath, the summer night.

Barbecues sizzle, a fragrant haze,

July's embrace, in summer's daze.

August

Golden light, on fields of grain,

A lazy rhythm, soft refrain.

Cicadas hum, a drowsy sound,

As summer's warmth, all around.

Days grow shorter, twilight's hold,

Stories whispered, ages old.

A gentle breeze, begins to sigh,

As summer fades, beneath the sky.

September

Leaves transform, to hues of gold,

A breathtaking sight, to behold.

School bells ring, a cheerful sound,

As children gather, all around.

Harvest time, the fields abound,

With bounties gathered, all around.

September's grace, a gentle sigh,

As summer's dreams, begin to die.

October

Crisp air fills, with autumn's breath,

Golden leaves, like gentle death.

Pumpkins gleam, a vibrant hue,

Halloween's magic, shining through.

Bonfires crackle, flames ignite,

Dancing shadows, in the night.

October's charm, a haunting grace,

A mysterious, enchanting space.

November

Thanksgiving feast, a thankful heart,

Gathering near, to play a part.

Family gathers, warm and bright,

Sharing stories, in the fading light.

Autumn's hues, a vibrant show,

As winter's breath, begins to blow.

Gratitude fills, the air serene,

November's peace, a tranquil scene.

December

Snowflakes fall, on Christmas Eve,

Carols fill, the air so sweet.

Fireplace crackles, warm and low,

Casting shadows, soft and slow.

Gifts exchanged, with loving grace,

A smile upon each cherished face.

Peace on Earth, goodwill to all,

December's magic, answers call.
