Break the Cycle

Here we go again,

Back at square one.

Told by family and friends

That this time would come.

Job after job,

You can never keep one.

Not because it’s hard, but

Because it’s no fun.

You carry the weight of the

world on your shoulders.

To cope, you keep smoking,

Which makes you look older.

Tell me, why do you push

All your loved ones away?

The people that actually care

You’re okay?

There also are times

You do well for some months

Maybe this time,

You’ll fix what’s been done

Just when you finally

Seem to get better,

Life pulls you back down,

As if you were tethered.
