When I Look in The Mirror
I needed more Black Moltengale for some experiments I was conducting to break a curse; but instead I found a strange glass slab twinkling in the middle of the woods. It was encased in some fancy golden framing, sparkling at every point and edge; it just floated there perfectly vertical hovering just slightly above the obsidian. Looking around there was no one else for miles and no other sounds but the echos of my hoof steps and a faint whisper coming from the glass. Walking up slowly with as much caution as possible, I arrived just a few feet from the suspicious glass and hid behind a close by obsidian pillar.
After a few moments of silence and singing a series of inspirational songs in my head; I heard a knock and more whispers. The whispers sounded more clear as I was closer to the glass but I didn’t recognize the voice and I didn’t understand the language. I kept behind the pillar, crouching lower thinking of my next move. Then I heard two more knocks. So I decided to peek from behind the talk black stone and when I looked into the glass much to my surprise it was a human.
Her skin was as white as the feldspar and dried animal bones nearby, her head was covered in mud colored strands and her entire body was covered with a flowy alabaster frock. I walked toward the human and I saw her place her hands on the glass; she spoke again but again I could not understand her. After several moments of stillness eventually I gained the courage to walk up to the human behind the glass; close enough to reach out and touch it. Right before I placed my hand on the glass, matching the humans’ hand on the other side; I could clearly hear her jibberish better now than before. But I still couldn’t comprehend anything, until I touch the glass.
As soon as I touch the glass I hear “Hello friend it’s nice to meet you. I’ve only ever seen black rocks and the occasional bright orange river stream when I look through the mirror. My name is Annabelle, what is yours?”
