Cleaning my house,

Cleaning my mind.

Cleaning all reminders of you.

I’m packing up your clothes.

Dusting off your shelves.

Picking up your jewelry and the things I knew so well.

I’m looking at the boxes.

Putting the stuff back on the shelves.

Trying on the jewelry because I just can’t let you go.

Looking through the clothes.

Playing dress up like a little girl.

Maybe if I make things better,

You’ll come back aswell.

Now it’s winter,

Spring cleaning is done.

Your room remains untouched,

As I knew it would.

Maybe if I hoped enough,

Maybe if I tried,

Maybe if I didn’t have to clean a mess that wasn’t mine.
