The Plant

Jack feels the glares beaming at him from everyone in the room. He finds an open seat next to Barb the firm yet understanding supervisor that recently interviewed him. “These judge mental ass people only see me for me record!” Said Jack. Barb responds, “You went to jail for driving a get away car they have every right to.” Jack, disgruntled says “yeah well if they they only knew” as he reflects on the night he was busted. Jack was locally known as a successful race car driver. Unfortunately with an older brother pulling Jack into undesirable situations and a deep passion for street racing, Jack found himself in deep debt with a fraction of the cartel. With his brothers safety on the line, no money, and a fast car about to be repossessed, he made his decision to drive for the cartel to clear his debts. Little did he know it was a set up to get rid of a rat that had nothing to do with him! His thoughts are interrupted by the shift manager “go home Jack we don’t have the hours for you.” “I was told there would be 40hrs for me” Jack contested. Followed by the shift manager with a furious tone “I was told the hours go to the full time guys before the felons!” Upset and with no ride home Jack walked out of the factory doors to find someone from the cartel waiting. Jack reluctantly approached him “I thought we were all clear.” The member raised his hand dismissing jacks comment “we’re strait, boss wants to thank you for not talking… with a job” Jack unsure what’s worse getting treated like shit at this plant or going back into the life he is desperately trying to get away from. Jacks hesitation bring the member to say “there are consequences to saying no to the boss”
