Evelyn Boone
Evelyn Boone had everything; a boyfriend, an apartment of her own, a large following on Instagram. She was the embodiment of thriving. She came in with a beaming smile and a kale smoothie and flooded the room with her energy.
Kathleen Jacobs had enough; she scraped by with her three other roommates that she doesn’t talk to outside of asking them to clean up their dishes, she had a secure place at her job but she knew she wouldn’t be picked for a promotion anytime soon. Not like Evelyn was as highlighted in their monthly meeting.
With hands curled into fists, Kathleen smiled politely at Evelyn as she passed out homemade brownies. She always brought in some sort of snack for the rest of the team and raised the mood on even the roughest of days.
Evelyn paused in front of Kathleen with a furrow in her brow.
Right.
Creaking her hand open, Kathleen accepted the plate from Evelyn. The woman beamed and moved on. She didn’t even seem fazed by anything.
Kathleen sighed, a soft smile slipping onto her face. Maybe she could learn a thing or two.
