Silence

Where are you, God?

I search, tiredly,

Every day—

In the small places,

In the big,

In the loud,

In the quiet.

And I wait.

But you hide,

Like an owl.

Sometimes you hoo,

But often, you stay silent.

Maybe it’s me.

I know my sins.

I wish I didn’t.

I say words of hurt

Only because I’m angry—

At me,

At you,

And at the silence

That haunts me
