POEM STARTER
Create a cento using lines from your favourite poems. You may also wish to use lines from your own poems, but the end result should be coherent!.
A cento is a poetic form made up entirely of lines taken from other poems, which are woven together to create a new, unique piece.
Regret
The second time I meant
to last it out and not come back at all.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there.
I do not sleep.
What now could slow the drop?
All I’d give for toes to touch
the safety back at top
And through thick woods one finds a stream astray,
so secret that the very sky seems small.
I think I will not hang myself today
In order:
_Lady Lazarus_ by Sylvia Plath
_Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep_ by Mary Elizabeth Frye
_The View From Halfway Down_ by Philomena (written for Bojack Horseman)
_A Ballade of Suicide_ by Gilbert Keith Chesterton
