Truths: The poetic journey of a doctor
In my heart, a physician's plight,
A moment near, casting shadows of light.
To deliver news, a weight I bear,
My emotions are entangled as I prepare.
A patient awaits, eyes filled with hope,
In my hands, their confidence I must elope,
A poem of emotions that is whispered within,
As I walk on the path, when the truths begin.
Before words slip through my lips,
A symphony of emotions, my heart is equipped.
Anxiety dances with anticipation's flame,
Compassion anchors, guide my aim.
For good news, relief, and a joyous embrace,
Healing words, offering solace and grace.
To witness giggling, as burdens lift,
A moment of victory, a precious gift.
But for bad news, a heavy burden to bear,
Delicate words, enveloped in the greatest care,
To soften the blow, deliver with grace,
Supporting their travel, in this somber space.
Mixed within, empathy intertwines,
A tapestry of emotions, where compassion shines.
The responsibility conferred on my soul,
Sail in the heights and depths, reach the goal.
Yet amidst that emotional quest,
I find solace in knowing I did my best.
To alleviate their pain, to provide a hand,
As a doctor, I can help them withstand.
As I approach the patient's door,
Feelings entwined, a torrent to explore.
I gather strength, for the information to impart,
Empathy and love are the ingredients of my healing art.
For in this sacred role, I find my vocation,
To walk beside them in each revelation.
Having a heart that listens and hands that heal,
To deliver information, with compassion's zeal.
