WRITING OBSTACLE
Submitted by Maranda Quinn
Show a powerful emotion – love, grief, rage - in a quiet, everyday moment.
Instead of writing a dramatic and drawn out scene, think about how subtle actions and sensory details can carry the weight of the feeling.
Fantastic Prompt, Thanks
An emotions moves us
To cause and an action
Tell the butterfly to stuff
Its self and curb
A reaction
Because to insist and insinuate
A new thing that we create
Is to say that we’ve dried and worn the
Conventions of our old palate
My emotion
Is a stubborn, old
Bull chasing red
Rage and grief and sadness
Happiness, joy
We hold on to until we’re dead
Because the idiot and the scholar
One of which is well read
Will tell us that we live because
We dream the same in different beds
My emotions is an elder witch
Brewing potions in a cauldron
Who curses the rain
My emotion is an old dog
Cuddled on my/your lap
That we’d bawl with
My emotion is a ceremony
Celebration and a thanks
An appreciation of the very reason
You/and I would ever create,
So thank you, to the prompt,
The creator, and this app,
Thank you to who created
You, this or that,
Thank you to the reason why the way I
Feel the way I do
Thank you to the reason
Compassion isn’t lost
Between me or you
The rain will ask again,
Leave a knock upon your roof
Tell it your alive
By the emotion that you choose.
