POEM STARTER
Poison.
Write a descriptive poem about something poisonous, and its effect on its target. This could be literal or metaphorical.
Little Did I Know
I drank from the cup of which you gave,
Little did I know it would lead to the grave.
You offered your hand out and I took it like a warm embrace,
Little did I know that this was a race.
I thought I was locked within a dream but,
Little did I know you had left without a trace.
I woke up one day as I realized my sin and shame,
Little did I know that it was already too late.
My heart felt stabbed, my mind abused,
Little did I know that it was you all along.
I made friends with the devil whom intoxicated my mind.
Made everything seem perfect,
Little did I know it was just distorted.
I looked down at my cup of which I had spilled,
And then I knew that I had drunk merrily from the poison of which I had taken from your hand.
