They all try to fit in

While I tried to stay afloat

They knew the finest trends

And I envied their lack of caution in each day

No serious things filled their minds

Other than school and extracurriculars

While I was undoing the trauma in my brain

I didn’t see it than, but it was my truth

And that’s ok because I leaned into society

Just in my own way, shaving off the dirt

All the roughness fell around my shine

There was more than most could see, even me

And I took it for granted then
