What’s Real?

Syrin slid the bag across the table to the hooded figure. The figure’s bright white eyes peered inside the bag. Syrin stood up and slammed his hands on the table and said in a demanding voice “where the hell did you find this?!”

The hooded figure remained silent. After a couple of minutes, they reached inside their cloak for something. Their hands were as dark as a shadow that appeared translucent and lacked dimension. The look on Syrin’s face was priceless when the figure pulled out a token.

Syrin’s face lit up with fear. He realized the figure’s response to his initial question was void and null. He knew this was the end. He thought of a million and one scenarios in his head with fair outcomes; however, he was a very smart guy who believe in the law of probability.

The figure flicked the coin at Syrin of whom caught it. A blackhole portal opened up behind him. At this point, the only people experiencing this phenomenon were Syrin and the hooded figure. Everyone else in the cafe went on with their lives as if none of it were actually existing.

A flashback replayed in Syrin’s head of his late girlfriend reminding him about the portal. She told him about how to free himself from the abyss. In the memory, he zoomed in on her necklace with the same logo on the coin. Once the flashback ended, the feeling of complete defeat took over Syrin’s whole being.

The hooded figure slowly stood up. They appeared to appear in front of Syrin at light speed. In a deep, eerie and grime voice, he replied “I found it in here” pointing at Syrin’s head.

Syrin realized that his nightmare, the hooded figure, used his fears against him to retrieve the item. Syrin looked around the room where everything began to appear indifferent like in his lucid dreams. He felt both his real life and dream world merge into one.

The hooded figure had no face only a dark shadow and bright white eyes. He pushed Syrin into the blackhole, then he tossed the token in following him.
