steam wafts off the surface
my tea, fresh from the pot
the news buzzes angrily on TV
a storm in a teacup
a very large one, indeed
changed the name
of something that’s not quite ours
if it’s not broken,
then don’t fix it
so why is it,
that our country is broken,
yet we dare to fixate
on the simplest, cleanest of things?
