Timekeepers

The party was still, from every drink to every person. Everything but a woman standing on the other side of the room. She was a small thin woman wearing a cloak way to big for her as she walked, slowly around the frozen room.

“Your one of us aren’t you?” She asked in a curious voice.

“One of who?” Mark asked as he watched her go over to the table where the popular kids were playing blackjack.

“Red shirts winning” The woman then said, lighting the tone. Or trying to.

“Who am I?” Mark asked, his head twirling around so fast he almost fell over.

“You, are a Timekeeper” She said, then removing her hood said

“And I am the one that took your memory”

That face was not familiar to him yet his brain knew that face. Then a memory came through, a memory that looked fake yet seeing her here, meant it was real.

“You were there the night Stan Keith died” Mark slowly said

“I was” She said back, still in a unfriendly tone. Stan Keith was a former scientist who had tryed to help Mark control his power, only to die four days later under unknown circumstances.

“I’ve done this forty times, for once can you just unfreeze time” She asked.

“How do I do that?” Mark then asked

Silence was deafening. Till she finally said

“I guess I have to kill you, it’s the only to end this.”
