POEM STARTER
Inspired by Reagan Stanton
Write a poem about decay.
Normally associated with death and disease, decay is also vital in nature for the next generation of life. What perspective will you take?
Weeds
Smiles as flower crowns are pass about the children, giggles as they dance in the lush grass. The memory fades. The smile tears apart to blank faces the flower crowns wilt as they turn to dust.Giggles turn manic as they final tree gets chopped down gravel under there feat. What a wonderful grove.
The ashes settle, adults with unsettling laughter try to tell stories of a forgotten past. They wonder on a dirt path that been there as long as them, danilions bloom.”weeds” a sneering adult told. They swear to leave a forgotten dirt path.
They don’t hear suppressed snickers with whispered secrets. They don’t see a swing made with stolen rope and a abandoned plank.Wishes blow into the wind. The grove seen all and now the next generation dawn.Weed into wishes.A new group of misfits blooms, the dirt treaded again.
