Not On The Schedule

“Hm, free labor does sound fun, but your sister would kill me if I held you hostage for more than three days.” Chloe said as she was crouched down, digging through a junk box in hopes of finding a movie while her best friend, Carson, sat on the edge of her bed.

“You know I wouldn’t mind. This way, I have an excuse to skip my studies. Plus, it’s about time someone intervened on this mess. Just give me a call…and a spare key.” He said with a chuckle.

“Dude, we’ve been friends for how many years? This room is a lost cause. Don’t get sucked into its trap.”

Carson looks around at the travesty that was the girl’s room then started to reconsider. Part of him is starting to think she 𝐰𝐚𝐬 part raccoon.

“Is it too late to opt out?”

Chloe giggled, sticking out her tongue. “Nah you made a commitment, Goldie. Now you have to become a slave to the pigsty. You said it not me.”

He then let out a sigh and dropped from the bed onto the floor next to Chloe. He stared at her, never noticing how cute her round glasses framed her face or how strands of dyed blue hair fell in front pale skin whenever her she had her hair tied.

When she caught him, she playfully punched his shoulder. “I’m not paying you to stare at my pretty face, you know.”

“I can’t help it, you’re fun to mess with.”

Her eyes narrow and she shoves him back, but this time he caught her wrists. The two began to tease each other until they found themselves staring at each other in silence. Something was different. Something felt different.

Before they even realize it, they were both already leaning closer with no explanation or reasoning.

Then it all happened so quick.

Their lips crashed against each other’s as if their bodies they didn’t want to stop. The room filled with a mixture of emotions, the initial reaction soon made them pull away, startled by what just happened.

Chloe blinks for a few moments to fully process what they just did. She then ran her fingers through her hair. “Oh shit, I messed up didn’t I? Shit, I’m sorry. I thought…”

He shook his hand and took one of her hands and placed it on his chest. His heart pounded against her hand like a drum and the heat in both their cheeks were undoubtedly obvious now so the boy placed his hands on her cheeks and kissed her again. Crossing the line between friendship to lovers was risky, but they both went for it.

(Happy New Year folks!)
