Home Invasion

_This isn’t the way I thought this would go_, said Darrel amid spurts of trying to catch his breath. He was paddling (hard) down river, trying to get to the little nook he had seen yesterday. There was (he thought had remembered) a piece of the land hidden by thick tall trees that he could just melt into and slip away. The only thing is he couldn’t remember exactly where it was. He knew he’d have to pass it, ditch the boat then run back to it. Did he pass it already? Not being able to turn around, because logically that would make his journey tougher, and also because he didn’t want to see those guys chasing after him, he forged ahead, praying he’d find it.
