The Snake

A group of friends went on a trip in the mountains for their spring break. Instead of going to a beach and getting tan like everyone else, one friend, Zak, thought it would be a good idea to go to the mountains.

On their trip, their plan was to hike to the Snake. The Snake was the hardest mountain to climb in the west, because of its curvy and steep trails. What this small group of friends doesn’t know is that everyone who has attempted to climb it, has never made it back alive.

Sara was Zak’s girlfriend, she was never the outdoorsy type. She dreaded coming on this trip, but didn’t want to stay home for spring break. Zak’s best friend Nolan also came along. He is the go get em’ type, he will do whatever he can to have a good time. Sara never really likes when Zak and Nolan are together, because Nolan makes Zak act like he does and that worry’s her. So Sara’s only reason to be with them is to make sure they stay safe.

Already on the first trail, it was rocky and steep. As it went on, it just kept getting worse and worse. They thought about Turing back, but Nolan instead on continuing. Eventually they started to get all scraped up from tripping so much being exhausted, but they were so high up there was no way they could start Turing back. Nolan challenged Zak to race to the next trail. Sara was furious because she was afraid for their safety.

She kept yelling out their names, but had no sign of them. She had no clue what to do, she was all alone on the most dangerous mountain in the west. She took a break and fell asleep on a rock. When she woke up, Nolan was standing over her silently. She was relieved that he was there, but was more interested in where Zak was. She asked Nolan several times where he was, but he never answered. He just stared at her looking blank. She was getting frustrated and frightened. She didn’t know what to do, so she started to go out and look for Zak. Nolan followed, but didn’t help look, he just stared at her.

After looking it started to get dark. They got to the worse trail. It was right on the edge of the mountain, and a very skinny trail. She told him to go first and he just stared at her. She starts screaming at him about what he’s doing. All of a sudden he say something, and leaves Sara balling. Nolan says In a very calm voice, “he’s dead.” She looks starts asking a million questions trying to figure out how. He says, “I killed him.” He explains that he beat him with a rock left him in the woods to die.

She falls to the ground crying, she doesn’t know what to do. He said to her that he is going to do the same. She had no reaction because she was still crying over Zak. Instead of beating her, he picks her up and whispers in her ear, “You were never good for him, you made him into a little wimp and doesn’t want to do fun thinks with me anymore. All he talks about is you and how much you mean to him, but never about me anymore. He already got his karma and now you are going to get what you deserve.” He then throws her off the mountain and continues home. She ends up laying there on the ground dead.

All she wanted to do was keep them safe, but ended up being the victim. Somehow it wasn’t the mountain that ended up killing her, but it was the people around her.
