WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a paragraph about a first date, where you include an adverb in every sentence.
Adverbs describe verbs (eg quickly, quietly, excitedly). Try to fit them into your sentences alongside appropriate verbs, so the adverbs don't feel forced.
Definitely
“Are you so very nervous as I am?”
“Not hardly. After all, you’re the one who quietly passes my desk every day. You’re the one who absently forgets something so you can go by two or three times in just a few minutes.” Brenda paused silently. “You’re definitely the one…”
Dominic waited anxiously for Brenda to continue. He could hardly stand it. So he continued her completely accurate indictment of him, “I’m definitely the one who holds the door for you when we enter the building together. I’m definitely the one who makes sure I catch the elevator with you. I’m definitely the one who’s madly in love with you. I’m definitely the one who should not have said that on our first, and probably last, date. I’m definitely the one…”
Brenda definitely smiled. Yes, Dominic knew with utmost certainty that Brenda had smiled.
Brenda hesitatingly breathed out. “No silly. Those words were definitively definitely absolutely it. You’re definitely the one… definitely the one for me.”
