Dying To Self
You say I abandon you, that I turned my back to you. That the words I speak are hallow and full of vanity. You say you miss the words I spoke which were dripped in honey, and tasted of sugar covered roses.
I tell you she is no more, and never was. She was only a shadowed reflection of the woman poisoned by her own thoughts. I left that woman to drown in the crystal ashes of her own corpse.
I look you now in the mirror, piercing into the core of my soul. Dangers of sacrifice. I’m not a traitor. I was never on your side.
