POEM STARTER

Write a poem which focuses on the theme of magic.

This doesn't have to be fantasy-style magic; it could be any feeling or atmosphere that is magical.

The Magic

The magic was in the air. How stupid it sounds now! But I promise, it was there. But you wouldn’t believe me anyhow. The magic was in the air. It may even still be. How utterly rare Would that be to see. It comes in other names: Love, joy, happiness, Being some. I promised to never talk of these, But it’s too late, it is done. The magic was in the air. Can you believe it now? We have love, joy and happiness. Enough for all of you and me.

Overall, I really like this. To improve the metre and rhythm, I find it easier to imagine it's a song. And use apps like Rhymezone if you need to find that ”elusive word”, although don't worry if it's a half rhyme rather than a perfect rhyme, or if you decide to go free verse. The most important thing is to tell a story, and you have done that. There is an app called Lyric, which is for song writers, but it does help in counting the syllables in words whilst you get used to the metre of words.
