It All Happened At The Bus
“No way!” Johnny said, high fiving his best friend George.
“Man, this is awesome!” George climbed onto the top and started jumping which violently shook the bus.
“George, be careful! Can’t have you breaking a limb before prom! Then we will have no chance at the crown!” Amanda reminded him, carefully stepping over leaves with her heels.
“Seriously, we told you we were going on a ‘adventure in the woods’ yet you brought… heels?” Sasha scoffed, as she climbed into the bus, giving it a good look.
Johnny was a simple kind of guy, he liked watching football (though he’d rather play lacrosse) and he also enjoyed reading. He wasn’t average, but instead simple. He was a real open book. Although he was smart, he still had that annoying male aspect. Sasha was always fawning over him, but wouldn’t dare tell.
George and Amanda are a couple. They got together last year. It happened when George scored the winning touchdown at a rivalry football game. They’ve been on and off ever since. Amanda is the most popular girl in the school (she’s the head cheerleader).
Sasha tutored Johnny in the 6th grade, and ever since they’ve been pretty tight. Sasha is not the most popular, but definitely the coolest girl in the school. The only thing that makes Sasha goes weak are his dazzling eyes. She plays soccer, fishes, and surfs… well, everyone surfs. They’re from Miami! Of course they all surf!
The friend group really formed after George and Amanda got together.
“Psst…” Amanda whispered, pulling Sasha into a corner of the bus. “You know, If you really want Johnny to like you maybe try a little harder.”
“What?” Sasha said, a little too loud. “How’d you know?” She whispered.
Amanda scoffed, “It’s obvious,” she then began listing the various ways Sasha was being ‘obvious’.
“Johnny, I need help!” George said, pulling Johnny behind the bus. “I think I wanna break up with Amanda.”
“Why?” Johnny asked, “I thought you loved her.”
“Yeah… well…” George sighed, “She just like, needs stuff.”
“What stuff?” Johnny wondered aloud.
“Well, for one she got mad at me for not getting her flowers on Valentines Day. I mean, isn’t my loved enough!” George huffed.
“I mean… that’s kind of something you need to do if you want a girlfriend…”
After Amanda finished listing the ways Sasha was exposing her love for Sasha, Amanda said, “Also, don’t emasculate him! With all your guy talk, you sure make him feel like a girl!” Sasha was partly hurt, but also glad she was being helped.
“Amanda we need to talk!” George said, busting inside the bus.
“I tried to stop him—“ Johnny started, until being interrupted by George.
“Listen, your just so needy! Like why do I need to get you a gift on your birthday—“
“Oh Lord, help us!” Sasha sighed.
“Your breaking up with me?” Amanda asked, not effected at all.
“Yeah… aren’t you the least bit surprised?” George inquired.
“Not really, I mean… I was probably gonna break up with you after prom anyway—“
“WHAT?!” George exclaimed, “You were just gonna go and break up with me?”
“Now that’s a reaction—“ Johnny mentioned, as the couple (or ex-couple) walked away to talk (or yell) in private.
“Hi… uhm… I… am—“
“Gonna leave?” Johnny said, finishing Sasha’s sentence. “But before you go,” he smiled, “Prom?”
Everything changed… and it all happened at the bus.
That was until, they left for college. Because ultimately, highschool relationships barely ever last, and that’s the moral of the story.
