Anything Goes

“Anything goes,” I said

But now when I call your number

the line goes dead

Anything goes turned into

everything is gone

I treated you like a rubber toy

that, when bored, I could play with, annoy

Everything is gone

I stretched you thin, left you out on the lawn

I though you were rubber

I thought you’d bounce back

Really you’re made of flesh, and bones that crack

You have a heart, something I must

lack

Sorry it’s a poem and not a short story…
