The Fairgrounds

Blinded by the lights,

Surrounded by color, I

Find that I’m drawn in.

The savory scents:

Popcorn, hot dogs, and chicken bites,

Tantalize my nose.

My ears—assaulted

By the chatter and clanging

Machines—are ringing.

My clammy hands grasp

The horse’s metal mane as

It spins me around.

The soft, pink dessert

Melts away into nothing

On my tongue. Yummy!
