A homograph is a word that has multiple meanings but is spelt the same way for each - e.g. a 'wave' in the sea, or to 'wave' at someone.

Choose a homograph, and write a short story or poem, in any genre, where you use your chosen word for more than one of its meanings.

As I watch the ocean dancing with glee

I can’t help think to myself

As every regret every drop of grief

Evaporates from every inch of me

Feeling the waves up against my feet

I can’t help but feel free

I wave goodbye to my friends

And watch the sunset

As I sit on the beach

Not a soul but me

I whisper my secrets and sorrows to

The shells and the bird that land near me

As me myself and I,

Watch the sunset and the world Fall to peace.

My soul could not be happier when alone on the beach

Feeling the water up against my skin leaving moisture for me

I think of all the happiest memories and let them sink in

The ocean the waves, everything gone but me

I could not be happier then alone on the beach
