The Man I Once Knew

I looked at him, disappointed. I never thought that my _best friend _would be a villain i had to defeat. I looked at him, and then back at the gun to my head.

“Take your mask off… DO IT!”

he shouted, growing impatient and making me jump. I nodded as I slowly brought my hands to my mask.

The cops had just pulled up and I _knew _that if I didn’t do it _now, _our town wouldn’t have a hero to protect them anymore. But then again, once everyone knows my identity, I’d end up dead either way.

I removed my mask slowly, and dropped it to the ground to show I mean no harm. I could barely hear the sirens over the loud expression on his face.

We stood silent for a moment. I didn’t know what to say after this. Theo really isn’t the guy I thought he was.

He looked guilty for a moment, that he could do that to his best friend.

“Henry I am so—“ he started, attempting an apology. But _nothing _could make up for this.

I sat there silently while he tried to compromise as the police took him away.
