The Way The Pendulum Swings
Diamond rings,
Beds fit for kings,
Gold tugging at my heartstrings.
That’s what I thought I’d get from you.
But that’s the way the pendulum swings,
I should’ve expected nothing else.
Fancy things,
Summer flings.
All the flowers that spring brings.
That’s what I thought I’d get from you.
But that’s the way the pendulum swings,
I should’ve expected nothing else.
But what I got was not a lot.
It hurt my heart, to be forgot.
The ache and pain of being vain,
Had once again
Fooled me.
What I got was a tangled knot,
While I was left alone to sap and rot.
The ego theft of being left,
Had once again
Fooled me.
The free bird still sings and sings,
And raises high it’s hopeful wings.
As for me, guilt of neglection stings.
But that’s the way the pendulum swings,
I should’ve expected nothing else.
