Why Are Those Fishies Sad Looking Auntie?
I danced underwater with the fishies. They waved and bubbled at me. I was in paradise. Just like Ariel in the Little Mermaid.
Then my eyes set on some large golden fishies. I dashed over to them.
When I stood at the tank, I noticed these fishies seemed different from the others. They weren’t as bubbly or wavy. They looked as if they were resting. But, I think maybe they were sad. Their eyes drooped and their fins did too making them look sleepy. Then I thought one of them might blow a bubble. It did, the largest golden fishie of them all. But the bubble the fishie blew was an almost square shape. But it looked like a bubble. But it wasn’t a bubble…
Then my aunt ran over to me. “Come on sweetie we have to go!” She said.
“Bye bye fishies!” I waved at them. Then I took my aunt’s hand, turned around and walked away. As I walked away with my aunt I said: “Why are those fishies back there sad looking?”
My aunt went silent for a moment before speaking: “Maybe they’re just having an off-day.”
I could tell she was lying through her teeth but I said nothing. Why would my auntie lie to me? Why do aunties or grownups lie in the first place? To look out for me. ‘Perhaps the fishie in the tank was sick instead?’ I thought as I left the aquarium with my aunt, got in her car and drove off.
