The Murder

Those hazel eyes are soft; eyes that don't belong to a killer. Then why when I look into them, all my worries go away. Because these eyes I've known and trusted my whole life, and now? Now I don't know what to believe

"Chasity, god damnit, look at me" his voice is pleading. I didn't even realize I haven't been looking at his eyes, Im avoiding that gaze im so familiar yet unfamiliar with. I look at him, and all I see is the man I thought I once knew.

"It was an accident, I didn't- I didn't mean it" his voice is cracking and I have no clue what to say to this man.

"It was self defense," he croaks "self defense Chasity, I had too" his voice is cracking, so desperate for me to believe him.

"Self defense Elijah? Self defense that took–," my voice cracks "that took a man's life?" He grimaces at the reminder. The murder he caused.

"Chasity you know I wouldn't kill anyone"

"I thought, but look what you did"

He tears his gaze away from mine looking crazed, he doesn't know what to do and paces back and forth in our living room.

"I need you to tell me what happened,"

He looks at me, "what happened? Yeah okay.. what fucking happend is he was drunk and came running at me like a fucking psycho!" His voice rising dangerously as he talks.

"Elijah calm down.. it's okay, you're going to be okay." I whisper trying to comfort him, I've always known though, always suspected that somthing like this would happen. And I don't believe his story, I'm just trying to survive this bit alone. If I don't believe him? I don't know what he will try to do.
