Even over all of the screams and screeches of shoes on the school hallways, Bret could hear the rythmic thumping of his heart beat. He remembered all of the drills that his class went over to prepare for shootings like this, but it seemed as if all of that had been forgotten in the sea of terror and confusion that surrounded him.
