Great poetry! For me, this ignites the idea of self-love, personal growth, and freedom from our own mindsets that hold us back. I especially resonate with the line, “If only this life were meant for me. Racing ahead, falling behind.” This speaks to me about my own tendencies to work so hard to accomplish goals, dreams, etc but never fully being satisfied… always wanting the next thing to accomplish and work towards. This concept is actually the reason behind my user name. I know the line “Just keep swimming” is an allusion to Dory’s famous words. The connection of fish in the sea to your hopeful and inspirational tone is a great metaphor! I was thinking this also may have been written from a perspective of finding ones true love and belonging. Just wanted to leave my interpretation. Art is a beautiful thing!
Coming out of a relationship that I’m grieving hard. I truly thought I’d grow old with him and had created a family to watch grow one day. He was my first real true love at 33 years old. I can’t grasp the concept of ever moving on from him or anyone coming close to being able to not only replace him but help me completely forget he ever existed in my life. For the first time since, reading this now, I felt a slighttt feeling of “hope”. I needed that. So thank you for it. 🥺💕
