POEM STARTER

“You’ve come back, but I no longer need you.”
Write a poem or short story including this line.
Coming Back
Summer days and dark blue nights,
We had it all,
the earth and sky,
And the everything in between,
Love to you meant making me feel safe,
Love to me meant bringing you peace,
Our hearts intertwined,
Like a moonflower vine,
Climbing up a trellis
To see where it would go,
But the day I noticed
Your indifference towards me,
I started planning my exit
From this painful reality,
You left with her,
and I was left with pieces
Of my shattered heart
And my broken soul,
I healed, moved on,
With every ounce of my strength,
I found a light in my soul ,
that I was sure forever lost,
That’s when you returned,
With your heart in your hand,
Kneeling before me,
With words of love,
I could not reciprocate
Your emotional plea,
You’ve come back,
But I no longer need you.
