When What Is Lost Is Never Found.

Laro sighed as he slumped into the grass, weary heart sick with hate. He.. he for the first time in his long life.. hated himself. Why.. why hadn’t he had done something when he could.. why didn’t he notice Baizel’s suffering earlier.. did he.. just not care back then..? Did he.. Did he not love him enough..? Where did it all go wrong.. where did he go wrong.. Maybe it was when they were in that village, the one where Laro was almost killed- No- Not that was selfish of him to think that. After all, he isn’t that important.. but thinking back, Baizel did seem quite.. shaken afterwards. Yet it simply just couldn’t be!

Fire.

   Flames.

       Flamboyant sparks.

   Flames.

** Fire.**

Laro panted as he ran. Run. Don’t look back. They’ll be fine. They are soldiers after all. Knights who are trained for this sort of thing. Don’t stop, don’t stop, don’t- Laro stopped in his tracks, freezing as he saw.. a boy. It was but a child that was trapped by a burning peice of wood, unable to call out for help from the amount of smoke flooding his lungs. The healer rushed over, ignoring the pain as he lifted the charred door off him, before picking the child up and dashed away.

“ LARO “ Baizel, his darling knight ran over, embracing him in entirety.

“ Where have you been. “ Ezer, Laro’s elder brother spoke coldly, unable to express the fear and relief he was feeling at that moment.

“ Who’s this-?? “ Baizel pulled away, only enough to look over at the child that stood beside the smaller man.

“ I-I’m Liran.. “ The boy spoke as if.. as if he felt he must to avoid anything.. unwanted.

“ Laro-?? “ Baizel asked,

“ Explain. “ Ezer said, looking over the child from afar.

“ Ah- yes yes. Ahem. “ Laro coughed gently,

“ As I was going to our designated meeting spot, I found a child struggling to breathe while trapped. “ .

“ I see. “ Baizel forced a smile, clearly still anxious over something, but Laro didn’t press. Now, he wished he did.
