POEM STARTER
Submitted by HardCoreWriter
‘If desires are a flame, then I am a wildfire.’
Use this line to inspire a poem or short story.
Embers.
There has always been a candle,
Just enough for me to handle.
Holding a dancing flame,
Lovingly contained.
When I noticed it licking at the curtain,
I felt worried and uncertain.
One spark hit the mark and the fire grew,
All my anxiety quickly scorched through.
I didn’t try to stop the spread,
Watched as it ate my bed.
I couldn’t do much more then watch,
All my interests turning into a blotch.
Glowing embers smiled at me,
Sparks fell like snow,
Smoking debris,
My love put on a show.
It devoured my life and roared ever higher.
If desires are a flame - then I’m a wildfire.
