Goodbye, Not See You Later
The warmth of the sun made its way through the blinds, lighting up the whole room. Turning away from your laptop, you rub your eyes. It’s morning already? You had pulled an all-nighter watching an interesting documentary of cats. Ever since your break up, you’ve had a lot of those. Casting your blanket aside, you get off the bed. Time to shower. You haven’t had a lot of those. You step over the never-ending mess in your room, get some clothes (hoping it’s clean) and get in the bathroom.
In the mirror you could see all the mess, including yourself. “Wow this is crap.” You say referring to your sunken eye bags and your unkept demeanor. As you undress you think to yourself, how did things change so quickly? When you step in the shower, the cold water hits you from above. Ah, geez! That’s cold! …just like their heart. That sounded cringe you tell yourself.
You laugh at yourself. Then you feel the tingling sensation in your eyes and throat. Soon you can’t tell apart your tears from the water falling onto your face.
‘Ding’ a notification from your phone. You peek at the counter where your phone is at but it’s too far away. When you finish, you pick up your phone to read a text from them. ‘It’s Goodbye, not see you later.’
You clench your jaw. Your vision blurred once again, and hot streams rolled down your cheeks.
I guess it really is time to move on.
