Freedom
Jamaya glances around to find all his peers shaking their heads as he walks on campus.
Even whispers began to intensity, causing his eyebrows to furrow and his right hand to clutch in a fist.
Trudging through the hallway, Jamaya tries to find his friend, Arlo, all the while curiosity filling his mind; he thought, what has he done for such disdain among the people in his college?
Nothing, not a single moment came to his mind.
After a few minutes, Jamaya finally spots Arlo near the vending machine in his usual outfit; black hoodie, and baggy navy jeans.
He heads towards Arlo.
"Hey, do you know why everyone looks like I failed them?" Vincent asks, his hand placed on Arlo's shoulder.
Arlo turns his head towards Jamaya, an eyebrow raising to his hairline.
"Bruh, do you seriously not know the reason. Are you dumb or just bluntly stupid?"
Jamaya chuckles, a slight smirk on his face. "Nah, I guess I'm just bluntly stupid."
"Yeah, you are." Arlo eyerolls. "Anyway, remember when you told me about your lady friend, Tay?"
"Yeah, what about her?" Jamaya tilts his head.
"Well your dumbass brain thought it was ok to reject her confession. Y'know she's known as the beauty goddess in her compartment, right?"
"C'mon man, get to the point."
"Jeez, impatient much? Word got around that you stood her up for a date after accepting her confession."
"What the fuck." Jamaya curses under his breath, his hand on his temple. "How did that get so twisted? All I did was reject her, and she can't even accept that?"
At this moment, Jamaya realized his reputation was in jeopordy; his freedom was in the hands of these rumors and his so-called friend, Tay.
