Necklace
She tied the strings and let it dangle beautifully from my neck. I looked at it with confusion. “What’s this for?”
“You’ll know when it matters”
“Stop acting smart. Tell me what it is”
“It’s just a little gift for you”
“But what exactly IS it?”
“It doesn’t matter. When the time comes, be ready”
“For what?”
“Destiny”
“Shut up with that nonsense and tell me”
“You see, I do not know because it’s not my fate, it’s yours.”
“Now your just being stupid. That’s impossible! DESTINY DOES NOT EXIST!!!”
“Many things are impossible, but it doesn’t mean that its not true”
“You know what. I don’t really care anymore. you’ve gone ABSOLUTELY MAD!”
It’s been ten years since I was given that locket. She left me. She went to evacuate the village before it arrived… but she was too late. I was angry. She had to go and save those people, not even thinking about me. She was so selfish. “Destiny” she said. But that was her crazy talk. None of that seemed to matter now. She even seemed to have that crazy idea of a necklace. I through it on the floor. It was worthless. Just a pendant tied with some string. SMASH. It broke. Something happened. A secret was revealed. I was no longer alone in my broken shack. I was going to fix it. I just needed to find out how.
