Dark
Darkness, my eyes are used to this now. I haven’t seen light in…come to think of it have I? I..I can’t remember. Light sources are incredibly rare, but vitality important. The light keeps away the things that crawl in the dark, terrifying monsters who are incredibly strong, and only weak to light. I hear something nearby moving._ Shit_. They found me didn’t they. I frantically look around but see nothing. I scrunch down even further. I might not be able to see it, but if something is there it can _definitely_ see me. I grip my knife even tighter. I have to prepare for a fight. If I can do at least some damage I can distract it and leave. I scan my surroundings once more. There! I saw something move. It’s getting closer. I reposition myself, getting ready to fight.
“Trisha!” A voice whispers.
“Rachel?” I respond.
Rachel appears in front of me. Thank god it’s her, I really didn’t want to fight. She sits next to me. I’m really glad she’s here, I was getting a little lonely. My stomach growls. And hungry.
“Did you find any food?” I ask.
She flashes a smug smile, “yes, I found much to eat after you failed.”
Why is she like this? She empties her bag, revealing 5 berries and a gross looking piece of meat. Seriously, she’s super proud of this? A raise an eyebrow at her.
“Well it’s better than you did!” She retorts.
Is it? I poke the meat with my knife. It oozes a green liquid. No way in _hell_ am I eating that shit. I pick up a berry and inspect it. It looks ok.
“Hey are you sure these berries are-“ Something crashes. It sounds like a pot clanging against the floor. I look at Rachel, she nods. It’s one of them. I hear Rachel take a deep breath. In a flash she grabs her gun and shoots in its direction. I hear the grotesque screech of the thing. It sends a shiver down my spine. Yep, that’s one of them. Rachel takes my hand and yanks me up. We run for it.
