Everything was perfect. I had the perfect wife, the perfect life, the perfect son. I graduated college, had lots of friends, and a great job.

Then one day, in the middle of the night, I woke up to a ringing in my ear. It wouldn’t go away, no matter the home remedy I tried. I decided to sleep on it. I’d tell my wife all about it in the morning time.

But when I woke up, I wasn’t in my bed. I was lying down in a football field, as a high school student, once again.

I was rushed to the hospital, turns out I was knocked into a coma for a few moments. And had lived a lifetime within that short time.

So now I’m sitting in my room, my head against the wall, mourning a life that was never mine.

Crying for the loss of my wife and my child, missing my friends that I held so dear, but yet weren’t even real.

Tears streaming down my face. I’m sitting in the dark, missing, and reminiscing, something that wasn’t even mine from the start.

Oh, I wish I just ignored the buzzing in my ear. But there’s nothing I can do about it now I fear. For I’m just a high school child missing a life that wasn’t real.
