“Imagine a day with no school” XLe6 pondered out loud. The thought made her queezy as she imagined it. She’d just finished todays lot of lessons. Totally boring and utterly pointless as per usual. She turned to the window staring at her lessons room a feeling of forboding creeping through her insides. Tommorow morning she’d be stuck back in that prison like place.

And so it happened. “Mother” called XLe6 “mother” my beds not coming to the floor. MaRT8 ran hurriedly towards her daughters room “open, open” she commanded the annoyingly faulty door. XLe6 saw a flash of blue light and then her mothers drowsy face. “Morning poppet” the woman greeted her daughter “speak to the bed more firmly. Sometimes it gets confused by your voice and head of to lessons please I better start work.”

Nothing seemed to be working anymore in this house XLe6 thought to herself as she got ready for lessons. Her parents had really splashed out on the latest model of Robo-ed. (the new robotic teacher that had been realeased) not that XLe6 had any idea why. The old one had been good enough printing her out sheets to fill in then marking them in seconds. Yes, lesson time had been allot shorter then.

“Greetings to my favourite pupil” simpered the robot as XLE6 arrived in the lessons room. “Today we will be studying history.”the child rolled her eyes. She DESPISED history almost as much as she despised her faulty bed. Learning about the past when people actually left the house was even more boring than numerical intilect. “Today” continues the robo-ed “we will be studying a diary entry written on July the 16th 2023. Please read what’s on my screen” XLe6 obeyed sulkily.

Dear diary,

I’ve had the best day today not that that’s unusual for a Friday as it’s so close to the weekend. At lunchtime, me and my friends sat in the canteen and enjoyed our Friday meals. Chicken nuggets and chips and even peas if you ask nicely.  here we talked about the coming weekend. Maria is going on a fancy shopping trip with her mum,  Edie is going to dinner for her brother sams birthday, Eleanor and Lani are meeting up at the park to have a picnic and feed the ducks and it all sounds like great fun but I’m doing something even better! Simply nothing. I shall stay in bed till midday and not even think about school till Monday morning. I shall play video games and have the longest shower then me and my parents are going to watch a film and play board games by the fire I can’t imagine not having weekends. There truly my favourite days. Like Lani says- no school no rules.

“No school no …” mother mother!! XLe6 dashed to the nearest portal as soon as lessons were over. She’d downloaded Flo’s diary entry to her air commands and was raring and ready to show MART8. “Mother “she breathed creeping quietly past her fathers work room until she reached her mothers salon. MART8 was a hairdresser or rather the commander of one. She sent robots round to various peoples houses then instructed them on how best to cut, die and style peoples hair to there preferences. XLe6 had always thought that it was great to have everything you could ever need in your house and never to have to set foot outside of its walls but now she wasn’t so sure. All the outside activities Flo’s friends were spending there days off school doing sounded much more interesting. “Mother look what I’ve learned about in history.”

“Excuse me” MART8 exclaimed in suprsie “one moment” she told her robot who was currently cutting Mrs BOb5s hair. She turned to face her daughter who’d never once voluntarily showed her something school related and in fact spent most of time moaning about her lessons.

“Air a “ XLe6 said firmly “bring up Flo’s diary from my history folder.” For a while the two pondered over the image of the diary and would later sit down together as to ponder it again with the girls father!

And suddenly the idea of all day work never seemed quite so appealing again to the family of three. And from that day onwards they all began their days imagining it was a Friday and that tommorow was the-ever so coveted Weekend.
