Faye’s Fight
Quit was not a word found in Faye’s vocabulary.
Within the petite girl’s expansive utility belt was an arsenal of experience.
Now in her shriveled elderly state that belt was tucked under her bed, gathering dust.
How did she get here?
How did she get so comfortable?
Faye fought fiercely for fortification.
Leaving her home behind at 19.
She had been on the run for many a years prior to today.
Battles including, a hydra.
Each head having a vendetta for our dark haired hero.
Each head being sliced by the young traveler.
Each head, leaving a scar.
Traveling an ancient sea, via raft.
Traveling an ancient sea, without nutrients.
Traveling an ancient sea, just to be.
Early on the earth told her she was to be alone.
To face this battle of adversity solo.
Early on it bothered her, craving companionship.
Walking this soil with no one to go to or come to.
Early on, she fumbled, losing herself.
It’s far from the beginning of it now.
Faye finding a home atop a mountain.
Tucked away from foes prior.
It’s far from the beginning, in fact
closer to the end.
With enough resources garnered,
To last the dwarf into retirement.
The last thing she had to do was “quit”
