Oups! I Forgot

The crowd was loud behind the curtain. I was waiting for my name to be called. Today, I was running for president. Can you believe it? President. Me. I certainly can’t believe it. I never thought I would find myself here.

I hear my name being called, and my hands start shaking. Suddenly, my entire mind goes blank and I can’t remember a single thing from the speech I had written. Oh no! What was I going to do without my speech?

As I walk towards the stage, I could barely walk straight and I start fidgeting with the hem of my shirt. I’ll have to improve on the spot.

“Dear citizens!

Today, I present myself before you in hopes of convincing you to elect me as your president. My dear opponents have proven themeselves worthy of that title in my opinion, but let me explain to you why it should be me, and not them, that you should trust. I, unlike them, have actual ideas to improve this land. First, I would instore multiple shops not only in the center of the city, but also in the small villages. That way, anyone can buy, or sell products without mixing the social classes.”

The cheers from the crowd can be heard. It was even louder than those of the previous candidates.

“Secondly,” I continue “I will do everything to install a police department in each city, and I will not rest until justice is served!”

The roar of the crowd is like none I’ve ever seen before. Do they really like me that much? After all, I am pretty likeable. What am I even saying? Im amazing! Of course they love me! How could they not?
